Hi! I'm Jocelyn, the Lightnotes photographer. My specialty is documentary and lifestyle photography with a cinematic eye.
Documentary photography first took ahold of me, ironically, on narrative film sets. Capturing behind-the-scenes stills of student and indie productions (2007-2011), while working part-time for a wedding photographer in Anaheim CA, was my earliest practical training ground. I learned how to anticipate and move around the action. I learned how to be both patient and fast, in allowing the richest, realest (and sometimes quietest) moments to unfold. Capturing those moments is like muscle memory at this point, but capturing them artfully has been an ongoing practice–and that little bit of finesse is the craft I love.
Parallel to photography, I have a multimedia/multidisciplinary art practice. And I'm also a recovering advertising creative who previously worked as a creative/art director for brands like T-Mobile, Gap, Laura Mercier, and more. You can see some of that old work: here.
